things? How you can't do something, or you're not doing something "right", you can't afford something, people don't like you, you'll never succeed so why bother trying. Making judgements, seeing things in black and white: she's
ugly, he's mean and bad-tempered. Or making predictions of doom and gloom.
From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep it's there with a never ending commentary and the way we feel and the actions we take are then controlled by it.
So if we've all got one, how in the world do you switch it
off? Is it even possible to stop it influencing you?
Yes. Most definitely. For within us all there exists that still, small voice that you've probably never heard because it's been drowned out. And because no-one ever told you about it or taught you how to recognise it. It is possible to find peace within ourselves, to function without reacting in response to the world around us.
There are various ways to do this. These can include meditation, learning to live in the moment, but for me it was learning more about this ego and how it operates and then getting to know my true self. It becomes a totally different way of living but one which reduces stress and anxiety and helps you feel more connected and alive.
