I hold the ABC level 3 Diploma for Reflexology, am a member of the Association of Reflexologists (AOR) and have professional insurance.  I practice "light touch" reflexology which uses less pressure on the reflexes and so is gentle and relaxing.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient holistic therapy which dates back approximately 4000 years.  It is based on the principle that areas on the feet and hands relate to the internal structures and organs of the body. It is a non-invasive and drug-free treatment. As a fully trained and qualified professional I am able to tap into energy pathways and detect areas of weakness and imbalance with the aim of restoring balance. It activates and supports the body's own natural healing mechanisms and can both relieve symptoms and help clear the underlying cause of any imbalance. The reflexology that I practice is very gentle and I treat the whole person rather than just one symptom.  Hand reflexology is also available as an alternative for those whose feet cannot be touched.

What sort of conditions can it be helpful for?

Stress and tension

Insomnia

Anxiety and depression

Digestive disorders

Hormonal conditions

Pregnancy

Asthma

Migraine and headache

Back pain

Allergies

Arthritis

Sinusitis

Reflexology is safe to use on the young to the old (although there are some situations where it may not be advised which is why I always carry out a consultation before commencing treatment)

It can reduce physical, emotional and psychological stress, reduce tension headaches and promote wellbeing.  The aim is to restore and then maintain natural balance to a person (homeostatis)

What happens at a reflexology treatment session?

The first session lasts approximately 60 minutes to an hour and a quarter as a case history is taken before treatment commences. This is completely confidential and includes medical history and lifestyle to help me customise your sessions to your individual needs. Future sessions last approximately 45 minutes to an hour, which includes time for feedback and any questions you might have. Treatment is carried out fully clothed - you will only be asked to remove your shoes and socks. Treatment can be done with you sitting or lying down.

How many sessions will I need?

This is something that we would discuss at the initial session and depends on individual needs and responses. Generally speaking, between 4 to 6 weekly treatments would be recommended to gain the most benefit from your treatment. You can decide to continue or finish sessions at any point.
